I was on vacation last week in France when the Iranian government said yes to a request for an interview. I flew to Tehran and talked to the president in the garden outside his presidential office.

To belabor the point that McCain doesn't know how many houses he has -- while it's witty and cute for the moment -- shows a misunderstanding of 'the psychology' of how many Americans think.
MJ Rosenberg, 08.24.2008
The whole question of whether Israel's actions can jeopardize us here is fraught with troubling questions. But they have to be raised.
Simon Jenkins, 08.24.2008
The world is now run by a generation of leaders who have never known global war. Has this dulled their senses?
Bahar Takhtehchian, 08.20.2008
Surely, my parents must have realized that my experiences growing up as an Iranian-American woman in one of the most liberal countries in the world would be very different from their own. But I don't think they could have predicted how much of a rift our opposite upbringings would create between us.
Murray Fromson, 08.22.2008
The latest campaign twister from John McCain is that he is not questioning Barack Obama's patriotism, only his judgment. But what kind of judgment ha...
Joe Biden, 12.06.2007
If the President takes us to war with Iran without Congressional approval, I will call for his impeachment. I do not say this lightly or to be provocative. The Constitution is clear. And so am I.
Joe Biden, 11.06.2007
If I were president today, I would be on the phone with Musharraf myself and make clear to him the risk to Pakistani-US relations if he does not restore the constitution.
Joe Cirincione, 08.14.2008
President Bush's new deal with Poland gives that country millions in aid, stokes Russia's paranoia and decreases America's security. It is bad policy.
James P. Rubin, 08.13.2008
The Russian government desperately wants the West to treat it as an important and respected great power. We can and should withhold that treatment. No diplomatic business as usual.
Steve Clemons, 02.04.2008
McCain's framing of the Iraq War and the inevitability of a war with Iran feels like someone who has not gotten beyond Vietnam.
Joe Lauria, 04.13.2008
Had the hundreds of billions of dollars poured into the invasion and occupation of Iraq been put into alternative energy the world might have had a fighting chance.
Chris Weigant, 07.18.2008
For only the fourth (or fifth, depending on how you count) time in his presidency, George W. Bush had a veto overridden by both houses of Congress thi...

One of the lessons the U.S. could learn from the conflict is that America is no longer the most effective nation when it comes to interfering, influencing and finally resolving conflicts among nations.
Paul Abrams, 08.16.2008
Clark was first in his class at West Point, won a Rhodes Scholarship, and studied (the "s" word) politics, philosophy and economics at Oxford. Similar to our Dear Leader, McCain was 5th from the bottom at Annapolis.
Andy Borowitz, 07.09.2008
McCain, who yesterday commented that the U.S. could kill Iranians with cigarettes, was apparently "just warming up," one aide said today.

Carter gave a terrific speech at the last convention.
I believe Carter spoke either on Monday or Tuesday...
I know they played a short film of him and the help he has been doing in New Orleans but I think right after that they just had him and Mrs. Carter come out and take a bow. Shortly after that they were interviewing him on PBS.
Yes, yes yes. Anything negative in Obama campaign from this point on will be attributed to Zionists. Hey, it works for Ahmadinejad and worked for Czars and various Baathists.
Of course this has NOTHING to do that Carter is a symbol of failed policies and one of the least popular Presidents (along with Bush2 ). Of course not. It MUST be Zionists hiding in our mids.. Come on, for shame, people.
You can not divorce religious belief and public service. I've never detected any conflict between God's will and my political duty. If you violate one, you violate the other.
Jimmy Carter
Hmmm, not exactly the thing you may want to hear at a Democratic convention...
The reason that Carter is being muzzled is because he is the symbol of failure in American politics. No one wants to be associated with that. Thats the reality--- deal with it.
